Concrete Slabs & Flatwork
Level, durable concrete surfaces for sheds, garages, workshops, and any project that needs a solid base.

Why Your Project Needs a Professionally Poured Slab
Whether you're building a shed, putting up a garage, creating a workshop space, or need a solid floor for storage, everything starts with a good concrete slab. We've been pouring concrete slabs throughout Southaven, MS since 2024, and we know that the quality of your slab determines how well everything built on top of it performs.
A properly installed slab gives you a flat, level surface that won't settle, crack, or cause problems down the road. It keeps moisture out of your building, provides proper drainage, and creates a solid platform for whatever you're planning. Cut corners on the slab and you'll regret it every time you use that space.
What Makes a Concrete Slab Last Decades
The difference between a slab that performs well for 30+ years and one that cracks and settles within a few years comes down to the preparation and installation process. Here's what we do that many contractors skip:
- •Excavate to the right depth and remove all organic material that will decompose
- •Compact the subgrade properly so the ground won't settle unevenly
- •Install a gravel base (usually 4-6 inches) for drainage and stability
- •Add a vapor barrier to keep ground moisture from wicking up through the concrete
- •Install rebar or wire mesh reinforcement to handle tension stress
- •Pour the slab at the proper thickness for your intended use (4-6 inches for most residential applications)
- •Level and finish the surface properly
- •Cut control joints to control where any cracking occurs
- •Let it cure properly before putting any load on it
Each of these steps matters. Skip one and you risk problems. We don't take shortcuts because we know you're counting on this slab to support whatever you're building for many years to come.
Different Slabs for Different Needs
Not every slab is the same. A patio slab has different requirements than a garage floor or a shed foundation. We design and build each slab based on what you're using it for:
Garage and workshop slabs need to be thicker and stronger to handle vehicle weight and potentially heavy equipment. We typically recommend 6 inches thick with proper reinforcement. We also make sure the surface has the right finish - smooth enough for easy cleaning but with enough texture for traction.
Shed foundations can often be thinner (4 inches) unless you're storing particularly heavy items. The key is making sure the slab is level and that water drains away from it properly.
Equipment pads for AC units, generators, or other machinery need to be sized correctly and set at the right height. We make sure they're level and stable so your equipment operates properly.
During your consultation, we'll discuss what you're building and make recommendations on slab thickness, reinforcement, and any special requirements for your project.
Built to Handle Mississippi Conditions
The soil conditions in Southaven and the surrounding area vary quite a bit. Some areas have clay soil that expands and contracts with moisture changes. Others have sandy soil that drains well but might need extra compaction. We've worked throughout this region and know how to adapt our process for local conditions.
We also understand Mississippi weather. Hot, humid summers and occasional winter freezes put stress on concrete. We use concrete mixes formulated for this climate and take precautions during extreme weather to ensure proper curing.
